Margaret Phillips
Aromatherapy, an art and science, has become widely publicised, but very few people know about the safe and proper use of essential oils. To qualify in Aromatherapy in South Africa you need at least 2 years of formal study and 100 hours of case studies. To practice after qualifying in aromatherapy you need to be registered with the Department of Allied Health.
There is clearly a need for a short course to equip you with the knowledge and tools to use essential oils in your home and for your family .
After 10 years of practice as an Aromatherapist, Margaret Phillips has devised a 6-week part-time programme which covers:
Definitions, Terms, Glossary, History, Chemistry, Plant Families, Methods of Extraction, How to use essential oils, Storage and Dosages ,Carrier oils and bases, Contra-indications and the sampling and study of scores of essential oils.
Practical work includes the making of products and lessons in massage, as well as case study discussions in the class.
Included will be the sale of recommended oils every week, at reduced prices, and two prescribed textbooks.
Every lesson includes printed hand-outs for your own file.
At the end of the course  you will be equipped to feel confident in the use of essential oils and carriers etc, with a good understanding of how they work.
Course Times: Thursday evenings, 7 to 9.30pm,
Next course starts Thursday the 3rd of May 2012.
Venue: 35 Malcolm Road, Rondebosch 7700, phone 0216718372

Headpeace has been very busy making lovely linen napkins and tablecloths: real linen, white and stone. See the photos on the tablelinen page. Linen napkins make a lovely wedding gift, and we can monogram them for you, in any number of classic or funky fonts.

NEW EMBROIDERY DESIGN: we decided to call this Margaret, because there seems to be an M in the middle. Some of the same acanthus-leaf curls which seem to crop up in many of my drawings, this design is lovely on linen for a cushion. See the picture on the embroidery page.
